Tauon

Install on your computer · Instructions checked 2026-10-14

1. Open the official Download & Install page and select its Windows installer, macOS disk image or Linux package option.
2. On Windows, use the official 64-bit installer. On macOS, use the signed DMG linked from the official release and drag Tauon to Applications. On Linux, use the linked Flathub package or Arch package.
3. Launch Tauon and drag your own audio files or album folders into the main tracklist.
4. Double-click an imported track to play it. Keep albums in separate folders and review Flatpak file permissions if music outside the permitted locations becomes unavailable.

Choose only the steps for your operating system; the platform paths are alternatives. Tauon is primarily designed for Linux; official Windows and macOS builds also exist. macOS users should use the release DMG documented by the project. The current manual identifies the Windows installer’s OS requirement; consult it instead of assuming all Windows versions. The FAQ says network folders are not supported on Windows, and Flatpak may need persistent permissions for external music folders. The player is free; it uses your music files or a separately configured media server. It does not include an Apple Music or Spotify subscription catalog.
