scrcpy

Install on your computer · Instructions checked 2026-10-15

1. On Windows, use the official Releases ZIP or winget install --exact Genymobile.scrcpy. On macOS with Homebrew, use brew install scrcpy and, if needed, brew install --cask android-platform-tools. Linux users should follow the official Linux page; it flags some distribution packages as obsolete.
2. On an Android device you own or administer, enable Developer options and USB debugging. Connect it to your trusted computer with a data-capable cable and approve that computer’s authorization prompt.
3. Open a terminal and run scrcpy. If several devices are connected, select the intended serial with scrcpy -s SERIAL using the project’s Connection documentation.
4. For a test recording, use a new output path with scrcpy --record=test.mkv. Close the window to stop and check the saved file. Revoke USB debugging authorization when a computer should no longer control the device.

scrcpy is Apache-2.0 software with no paid mirroring tier or account requirement. You supply a compatible Android device, a computer and connection. USB screen mirroring requires Android 5.0+ and USB debugging; audio forwarding requires Android 11+. It does not unlock DRM-protected video, paid streaming catalogs or iOS support. Only the official Genymobile repository distributes this project.
