Media Servers
An extensible music server for a computer or Raspberry Pi.
The Apache-licensed core is free and plays local audio files and internet radio. It runs on a computer with audio output and uses a web client or an optional MPD extension for control; hardware, storage and third-party client costs are separate. It includes no Spotify, Audible or Netflix subscription catalog. Service extensions have separate requirements: Mopidy-Spotify requires Spotify Premium and its current README warns that third-party access-token streaming has been disabled, so do not rely on it as free or guaranteed Spotify playback.
Check official pricingControl music from your own files and internet radio on a server using web or MPD clients. A self-hosting option is recorded for this project. Review the official deployment instructions and maintenance requirements before running it yourself.
Clients control the server; they do not receive the audio by default. Streaming audio to another device needs additional configuration such as Icecast or Snapcast. A terminal session and a system service use different configuration locations. PulseAudio or PipeWire may need extra configuration for service playback. The core includes no subscription catalog. Mopidy-Spotify requires Spotify Premium, and its current README warns that third-party access-token streaming has been disabled.
