LinkAce

Set up your own server · Instructions checked 2026-10-16

1. Prepare a server with Docker 19 or newer and Docker Compose supporting file version 3 or newer. Choose the browser URL that will reach your installation.
2. Download the official linkace-docker.zip setup package linked in the Docker guide. Use its stable Compose setup, which includes LinkAce, MariaDB, Redis and Meilisearch.
3. Edit the supplied .env configuration: set your own database and Redis passwords and Meilisearch key. Follow the guide to give the application ownership-based write access to its mounted .env during setup.
4. Run docker compose up -d in the setup directory. Open the URL pointing to your container and complete the built-in database and user-account setup.
5. Follow the linked Post-Setup Steps: set APP_URL to your actual URL, configure mail, schedule cron every minute, and arrange backups. Choose guest access and default link visibility, then import an HTML bookmark export or save your first link.

The stable Compose route is the supported production setup; the single-container SQLite test route is for evaluation and has no supported database migration path. For remote access configure HTTPS and the documented reverse proxy settings. Email supports password resets and notifications; cron enables imports, link checks and archiving. Software is free, while hosting, email and backup storage can cost separately.
