Create useful physical-key shortcuts on an Android device.
Free FOSS core · paid add-ons separate
The reviewed GPL-3.0 FOSS edition has a usable free core for physical-key remapping and actions. The provider explicitly offers certain advanced triggers and special features as paid add-ons; do not label the entire product feature set free. F-Droid also flags promotion of the paid Play version. This selection covers the available FOSS package, not a paid extension or every Button Mapper Pro feature. Some actions need accessibility, keyboard, Shizuku, ADB or root support and can depend on Android version and device hardware; basic remapping does not require buying a server or API.
Assign physical Android buttons or keyboard keys to actions, shortcuts and repeatable macros with configurable conditions. Visit the project website to check the currently available deployment options.

A usable public Android package and official installation source were reviewed. AltStack did not install or execute the app.
Install on your phone or supported device · Instructions checked 2026-10-22
On Android 8.0 or newer, choose the official GitHub FOSS release or provider-linked F-Droid package io.github.sds100.keymapper. GitHub currently supplies keymapper-4.6.2-foss.apk; F-Droid currently suggests 4.6.1-foss, so check the channel and version.
Install with Android’s package installer or the F-Droid client, then read the accessibility-service explanation before enabling the service for your own device. It observes key presses so the configured shortcuts can work. Start with ordinary physical-key mappings; advanced triggers may be paid or need extra setup.
For the provider’s simple example, create a key map, use Record trigger and press volume down, then choose Long press. In Actions, choose Add action and Toggle flashlight. In Constraints, choose Add constraint and Lockscreen is showing.
Save with Done and confirm the status is Running. Try the mapping on the lock screen with the screen on. The documented example does not work with the screen off without experimental support. If a device blocks accessibility settings or a key is unsupported, consult the provider’s troubleshooting instructions rather than assuming all hardware behaves alike.
Documentation review only; no APK executed or device permissions changed. The source policy says key-press recording is temporary and Firebase Analytics was removed in 1.1.5, but its log-data wording is broader; no blanket zero-data-collection guarantee is made. Accessibility observes input and optional network actions or integrations can contact their destinations. This is the FOSS core only, with paid features disclosed.
Self-hosted Community runs indefinitely without a paid license key. Registered Community also remains free. Business/Enterprise features and n8n Cloud are paid; your server, third-party services and model APIs can add costs. Its source-available license is not a general permission to sell a competing service.
Search, edit and reuse a local clipboard history with optional tabs and automation.
CopyQ is GPL-3.0-or-later desktop software with free official packages and no required subscription. Clipboard history is stored unencrypted by default unless its encryption feature is enabled. Built-in recognized secret markers are ignored by default, but this is not a guarantee that every application marks secrets correctly. It does not provide Paste’s iCloud/iPhone workflow or a password vault.
